Dodge City, KS — (June 26, 2013) — Just a little over one week is all that remains before the World of Outlaws storm into southwest Kansas for the much anticipated Boot Hill Showdown atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval.

The world’s premier Sprint Car touring series makes its only appearance in the region next Friday and Saturday, July 5-6, offering up its own brand of spectacular fireworks at one of the nation’s premier dirt tracks.

With reserved seating going fast, remaining reserved seats as well as general admission tickets are available at http://dirtcar.ticketforce.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=89 or by calling the track at 620-225-3277.

Thirty-five nights into a 2013 slate of approximately 80 events, the World of Outlaws added another pair of names to this season’s win charts this past weekend with Cody Darrah victorious at Grand Forks, ND, and then Rookie of the Year contender David Gravel picking up the win the following night at Fergus Falls, MN.

A native of Red Lion, PA, the 23-year-old Darrah pilots one of two Kasey Kahne Racing entries on the WoO trail along with current points leader Daryn Pittman, while Watertown, Connecticut’s Gravel celebrated his 21st birthday the day after his second career WoO score on Saturday.

Breaking out of the gates quickly and maintaining strong form throughout the season thus far, Owasso, OK, native Daryn Pittman continues to hold the top spot in points as he vies for his first World of Outlaws championship.

Pittman has amassed a handful of wins, most recently at New Jersey’s New Egypt Speedway on May 21, to build a 134-point advantage over five-time and defending WoO champion Donny Schatz of Fargo, ND.  Schatz has tallied up a series’ best seven wins thus far in 2013, including three over the past month.

Aside from Schatz with seven wins, the only driver to match Pittman thus far in the win column is California’s Tim Kaeding, who matches Pittman at five wins despite missing several events along the way.

With Pittman and Schatz leading the points chase, Paul McMahan, Craig Dollansky and Sammy Swindell make up the balance of the top five with the rest of the top ten including Joey Saldana, Gravel, Darrah, Steve Kinser and Chad Kemenah.

Twenty-time “King of the Outlaws” Steve Kinser topped the final night of last year’s Boot Hill Showdown after his son, Kraig Kinser, snared the win on the opening night.  Kraig is currently just outside the top in points in eleventh, one spot ahead of Australian contender Kerry Madsen.

Both nights of Boot Hill Showdown racing action featuring the World of Outlaws will go green at 8:00 p.m.

In addition to the much anticipated World of Outlaws Boot Hill Showdown on July 5-6, 18 scheduled nights of action at Dodge City Raceway Park over the course of 2013 features several special events including the TORC Off Road Trucks in April, a pair of $1,200-to-win IMCA Modified tilts in July along with USAC Sprint Cars on August 23-24 and four rounds of URSS Sprint Car competition along the way.

Dodge City Raceway Park is located on the south edge of Dodge City, KS, on US 283, then 0.9 miles west on US 56, then 0.1 miles south.  For more information, contact the track at 620-225-3277 or check www.dodgecityraceway.com.
