SCVR Season Winding Down, But Not Before “The Blast!”

By Terry Lehnertz

As the days grow noticeably shorter, the end of the St. Croix Valley Raceway 2013 season draws ever nearer.  Only a handful of events remain on the SCVR calendar, with perhaps the biggest remaining highlight belonging to the WISSOTA Late Models and the second running of “The Bullring Blast!”, kicking off the Labor Day weekend and the unofficial start of “specials” season in the upper Midwest.

Last August, the Late Models made their first trek ever to the track since it was converted to its current quarter-mile configuration, and the return proved long overdue.  The 2012 version saw Jake Redetzke park his iconic red and white #27 on “The Hill”, SCVR’s victory lane, after a wild and ultra-competitive main event.  The late models were able to utilize a wide swath of The Valley’s clay in the inaugural event, and driver’s seemed as pleased with the action as the fans afterwards.

Joining the WISSOTA Late Models, open Modifieds will also be on The Bullring Blast! card, along with all five of The Valley’s regular classes – SCVR Future Fours and Pure Stocks, UMSS Micro and Traditional Sprints, and WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds.  First green flag is scheduled to wave at 7:05.  More information may be found on the track’s website, www.SCVraceway.com, or on their Facebook page.
