OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 4, 2014) – Fresh off a birthday earlier this week, Danny Lasoski has his sight set on a unique birthday prize.
Actually, three of them.
Lasoski will open his season this Thursday through Saturday at Bubba Raceway Park for the 3rd annual Bubba Army Winter Nationals with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions. It’s a track where Lasoski has enjoyed a lot of success throughout the years, including 2012 when he swept the two All Star races at the track.
“The last time I ran my own car there we had a great weekend,” he said. “We have a lot of confidence going in there.”
Although he hasn’t been in a sprint car in approximately three months, Lasoski said it won’t take long to adjust to the quick speeds and close competition.
“It’ll take you a hot-lap session to get back to speed,” he said. “It’ll come quickly.”
The trickiest part will be the challenge the unique shape of the track presents for the drivers.
“It is definitely a driver’s race track,” he said. “It’s made somewhat like an egg. Turns one and two are sweeping and turns three and four come to a point.”
Regardless of the challenge of returning to full speed and navigating the distinctive surface, Lasoski said the goal remains the same as any other race.
“Just like any place we go, we are optimistic,” he said. “We go to win. We’re going to give 110 percent and hopefully put this car in Victory Lane where it belongs.
“I also want to thank Brian Ellenberger of Open Joist as well as Ocala Lawns for helping out for Florida. We’ve got a couple of people stepping up to help for the start of the season and hopefully our results will help them want to stay on board for the rest of the year.”
