Blake Hahn takes pair of podiums with ASCS Lone Star Region

By Bryan Hulbert

SAPULPA, Okla. (April 29, 2014) – A weekend in windy West Texas was a successful one for Blake Hahn who earned a pair of second place finishes against the Smiley’s Racing Products Lone Star Region in Lubbock and Abilene.

“It was definitely a good weekend. We made the re-draw both nights and drew second row both nights,” said Hahn of the weekend.

Nearly having his weekend end early after contact with a slower car during the A-Feature at Lubbock, Hahn was fortunate to recover without major incident, “I reeled Stasa in, and was on his bumper going down the back straight-a-way. He dove for the middle to slide a lapped car and got into him a little bit, then the car got sideways and I right-reared the lapped car, went off the track, and did a backwards doughnut but stayed in the gas and kept it alive.”

With the track taking rubber, Hahn lost his right-rear tire just after taking the checkered flag. Hahn said the damage to the car was minimal, just the tire and the right Nerf Bar.

Finishing second again on Saturday night, Hahn spent most of the race third; working around Jake Martens in the final three laps to take the runner up spot.

“The second night was a little bit better. It was dry and hard to pass but it was a lot racier than the night before.”

Looking forward to this weekend, the Old School Racing No. 17 will be in action with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real on Friday, May 2 at the Outlaw Motorsports Park in Muskogee, Okla. followed by the Rock ‘N Roll 50 at the Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

“I ran Outlaw one time last year and didn’t have the night I wanted. I got into it on the first lap but came back up to seventh. It’s a fun track where you can throw a bunch of sliders. I’ve run “The Ditch” one time, and am really looking forward to Saturday.”
