Pifer Out of ICU After Sportsmans Speedway Fire

Pittsburgh, PA — (May 12, 2014) — 20 year old Darren Pifer is hospitalized after being burned during a 305 sprint car race at Sportsmans Speedway.  Pifer suffered second degree burns to his legs during a heat race and was air lifted to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Pifer has been moved from ICU into his own room, but remains hospitalized.  Pifer was able to tweet out to the people that have sent him well wishes over the past 24 hours.

Pifer also tweeted to T.J. on Monday that he is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of his sprint car, even though he has a long road to recover ahead.
