From Port Royal Speedway
Port Royal, PA — (July 3, 2014) — With nearly 30 sprint cars signed in for PA Speedweek action on Thursday night at Port Royal Speedway, a relentless rain forced cancellation of the program at approximately 8:15 pm.
A torrent of rains and high winds pelted the speedway around 3 pm with sporadic rainfall lasting until 6 pm however oval officials opened the gates and pressed on, preparing the track in an effort to get the show underway and completed.
And considerable progress had been made with thoughts turning to engine starts when a few quick downbursts of rain in the very humid air ruined any chances of reclaiming the already saturated surface.
