Pontoon Beach, IL — (July 24, 2014) — Rico Abreu won the Midwest Open Wheel Association Speedweek feature at Tri-City Speedway.
Danny Lasoski led the non-stop 30-lapper early over Abreu and and Ian Madsen. Logan Faucon launched into a wheelie on the backstretch, came down hard and slid into the pits. Lynton Jeffrey retired early with an ignition box issue. The lead pair hit heavy lapped traffic by lap ten, with Abreu sliding by Lasoski for the lead. Madsen was third, ahead of A.J. Bruns and Terry McCarl, who had shot by Tony Stewart and Joey Moughan for fifth. On lap twelve, Bruns drove by Madsen for third. That’s how the top five would finish, with rubber developing the last half of the race.
