CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS (19 entries)

Jim Huppunen and Dave Dykstra led the 19-car Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car feature to the green flag. Dykstra grabbed the early lead off the initial start, shuffling Huppunen back to second. American invaders Wayne Johnson of Knoxville, IA and Shane Stewart of Pittsboro, IN battled for the third position early after starting side-by-side in the second row.

Johnson battled to take the lead from Dykstra on lap six and never looked back. Dykstra faded in the middle portion of the race as Huppunen ran in second ahead of Stewart. Johnson grew his lead to nearly a half lap as he ran through lapped traffic in the caution-free race. Johnson set a new track record for a 20-lap 360 sprint car feature at 4:55.961 en route to the victory. Stewart used a lapped car to get by Huppunen on the final corner and steal the second spot.

STRICKLAND’S GMC CRATE SPRINT CARS (14 entries)

Mark Czuba and Tyler Hendricks started on the front row for the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Cars feature. Czuba took full advantage of his starting position and assumed top spot on the opening lap. Czuba carved out the top line ahead of second-place runner Jake Brown. Brown tried feverishly to catch Czuba in the first half, but couldn’t gain any ground until a lap eight caution when the front end broke on Paul Lang’s No. 6L.

Czuba got the best of the restart and out-dueled Brown. A pair of late race cautions after spins by Dylan Westbrook gave Brown his best shot at the lead while running the top groove. It didn’t matter though as Czuba was too strong on the bottom and held off Brown and Hendricks for his first career sprint car victory.

AFFORDABLE TOWING & RECOVERY THUNDER STOCKS (34 entries)

Derek Liverance and Jonny Lowenberg led the 24-car field to the green flag for the 20-lap Affordable Towing and Recovery Thunder Stocks A-Main. Lowenberg grabbed a commanding lead in the early laps, but suffered problems on lap three that ended his night. Dave Bailey assumed the lead and set sail in front of the field only to be reeled in by a caution at lap seven.

Bailey was not to be denied victory on this night however, as he led the final 18 laps and earned a parking spot in Mobil 1 victory lane. The best efforts of second-place finisher Dave Silverthorne weren’t enough to put him within striking distance. Chris Dickie battled to a third-place finish after starting 17th.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS (34 entries)

Rob Twitchett and Chris Ryckman led the HRW Automotive Mini Stock field to start the 15-lap feature. A pair of early race incidents slowed the pace. Jeremy May got the race lead on lap six, but saw it evaporate one corner later when Tyler Lafantaisie took over the top spot. Two laps later, Lafantaisie’s race ended when the car appeared to break a tie-rod in turn four. That left the lead to Kathi Dickie for the restart.

Dickie worked the bottom groove to protect the lead, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Mark Bazuin who took over the point with five laps to go. Bazuin separated himself from a dramatic battle for second between Dickie and B-Main winner Jason Lungaro. Lungaro managed to get by Dickie to finish second while Bazuin checked out up front.

GALE’S AUTO AFTERMARKET BOMBERS (19 entries)

Amy Fitzsimmons and Gillian Hils led the 16-car Gale’s Auto Aftermarket Bomber feature to green. Hils jumped out to an early lead on the outside and grew it to six car lengths over fourth-place starter Ashton Reekie. Joe DeBoer charged through the field from sixth and entered the conversation for the race lead.

Just after the halfway point, Hils got stuck behind a lapped car on the outside, allowing DeBoer to take the lead on the bottom of the frontstretch. DeBoer expanded the gap out front of Hils in the final laps of the caution-free race to earn the victory over Hils and Reekie.
