Port Royal, PA — (October 26, 2015) — As the checkers fell on the Port Royal Speedway season finale featuring the World of Outlaws sprint cars on Saturday night, work is already underway on the 2016 slate of events.

Work has been ongoing since late August evaluating the calendar for a new season with coordination meetings and phone calls taking place between area divisions and sanctioning bodies.

The newest and biggest event on the 2016 schedule will be the expanded Bob Weikert Memorial.

Originally planned to expand to a two-day format, oval officials announced at the Saturday night season finale that the new format for next season will now see the event become a three-day sprint car blockbuster, taking place over the entire three-day Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The 2016 Weikert Memorial will be a three-day Port Royal PA Posse sprint car racing extravaganza that will span the weekend next season, kicking off the summer with pizzazz.

Dates for the 2016 Bob Weikert Memorial will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 28, 29 and 30, 2016.

Monday’s program will crown the prestigious Weikert Memorial champion as the huge weekend comes to a close.

Details of the Saturday-Sunday-Monday format and oval activities are still being finalized and are currently under review thanks to the Weikert family and Weikert’s Livestock of Fairfield.

Of course the other huge two-day weekend set to take place will be as part of the Juniata County Fair on September 9 and 10 with the annual Tuscarora 50 races scheduled.

Confirmation has already been received regarding the return of the World of Outlaws and All Star Circuit of Champions sprint cars to the Juniata County oval again in 2016.

The 2015 speedway banquet will take place at the Port Royal Community Building on Saturday, November 21.

Tickets are now on sale at a price of $30 each and can be obtained by calling the speedway at 717.527.2303 or by mailing a check or money order to the track, made payable to Port Royal Speedway.
