Sweet Takes Volusia Win to Open WoO Season

BARBERVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 12, 2016 – A family feud defined the opening night of the 2016 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season as Brad Sweet and Daryn Pittman, both Kasey Kahne Racing with Mike Curb drivers battled it out through the 30-lap feature at Volusia Speedway Park during DIRTcar Nationals sprint week. Ultimately it was Sweet who captured the first win with a last lap pass of his teammate. Pittman finished second with Sammy Swindell in third. Donny Schatz ended a DNF streak that started in September 2013 – 178 races in total.

Qualifying: 2 laps, random draw determines Qualifying order.

Heat races (based on car count):

21-31 cars: 3 Heats. 6 car Dash

32-37 cars: 4 Heats. 8 car Dash

Heat lineups: staggered, straight-up by Qualifying time. No inversion. Top 2 finishers advance to the Dash.

The Dash is initially lined straight-up by Heat race finish. An inversion draw of 0, 4 or 6 will determine the starting lineup. The Dash finish determines the first 3 or 4 rows of the A-Main lineup.

Top 6 finishers of a 3 Heat program

Top 5 finishers of a 4 Heat program

transfer to the A-Main.
