Twenty two teams pulled through the Pit Gate at RPM Speedway Sunday night to make up a date that was rained out earlier in the season. It was Steve King Foundation Night Sunday and the fans in attendance were not disappointed by the action on the track.  The track crew did an excellent job of maintaining a racy surface throughout the evening and Luke Cranston powered his way to his second win of the year becoming the only driver to visit Victory Lane more than once this season.

Lacrosse Kansas driver Kade Hagans led the field to the green flag and jumped out to the lead with Nate Berry, Luke Cranston, Saturday nights winner Ty Williams and three time URSS National Champion Jake Bubak rounding out the top five at the end up lap one. Caution would fly early as Jordan Randles and Ken Lutters banged wheels in turn one causing the caution to come out, both drivers were okay but done for the evening.

On the restart Kade Hagans once again jumped out into the lead, Bubak quickly charged past Williams to take away the fifth spot. Cranston set his sights on second place Berry and reeled him in lap by lap finally grabbing the runner up spot on lap nine. Hagans built a sizeable lead over the second running Cranston but was patiently working his closer each lap until on lap fourteen he took the spot away from Hagans. Soon Hagans was being pressured by Bubak for the runner up spot with Bubak relegating him to third on lap sixteen.

Lapped traffic would soon come into play allowing Bubak to close up on Cranston. Caution would fly for the final time on lap eighteen as Nate Berry came to a stop ending his night. This would bunch up the field once again.

On the restart Cranston would once again pull out to the point with Bubak in second. Fifth place Steven Richardson would use the restart to slingshot his way around Hagans and Williams to take over the third spot. Soon Hagans would be pressured by Tracey Hill who took away the fifth spot on lap twenty one.  Cranston pulled away and was never challenged for the win with Bubak, Richardson Williams and Hill comprising the top five as the checkers fell. It was Cranston’s second win of the 2016 season.

The Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger Award was won by Luke Cranston moving up five spots for the win.   Heat race winners – Richardson, Hagans, and Huish
