Findlay, OH

Millstream Speedway opened its gate for teh first time in 2016 on Sunday night, and welcomed the newly formed Ohio Sprint Car Series for its inaugural visit to the Findlay, Ohio half mile oval. Jac Haudenschild, from Wooster, Ohio, took the OSCS victory in the Fast Signs #6, with #91 Rusty Schlenk winning the Late Model feature, and #22T Tony Anderson winning the Stock Car/Truck feature.
Kicking off the night were the OSCS Sprint Cars. Haudenschild and #22B Ryan Broughton would lead the field to green, with Haudenschild grabbing the early lead. OSCS Points leader Cole Duncan would charge to 2nd on lap 1. #23Jr Jack Sodeman Jr. would bring out the caution flag on lap 2 as he spun in turn 2. On the restart, Haudenschild would stretch out to a 2 second lead over Duncan, until getting in lapped trafic on lap 7. The yellow would fly again on lap 12 for a turn 4 spin by #56R Ryan Myers. On the restart Chillicothe Ohio’s Danny Smith in the Ohio Valley Veneer #4 would show his hand, moving into 4th and setting his sights on the leaders. Up front, Duncan would use the bottom of the track in turn 4 to make a big run and take the lead on lap 18. Cautin would wave on lap 19 for #9 Jordan Ryan, as he came to a stop at the end of the front stretch. On the restart, it looked like Duncan would start to pull away, but Haudenschild, affectionately known as “The Wild Child” by his fans, would put on a show on the top of the track powering back to the point for good on lap 21. Duncan would finish 2nd, with Smith 3rd, #11N Randy Hannagan was 4th, and #22B Ryan Broughton would complete the top 5.
In the 25 lap Late Model A Main, #26 “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn would grab the point in turn 4 and set sail early over pole sitter #36 Matt Irey. Caution would fly on lap 5 for #12 Kent Brewer and #30 Nate Potts, as they would come together in turn 2. On the restart, Chinn would set sail again, but some of the heavy hitters that started from the back would begin to show their power, as Schlenk would move to 2nd on lap 7 and #15 “The Steel Driver” Jon Henry would move to 4th. A scary moment on lap 12 as the #31 of Dan Gehring would spin on the back straightaway after contact with Schlenk, then #00 Matthew Chapman would hit Gehring at high speed. Both drivers would walk away, but their cars were done. On the restart, Henry and Schlenk would battle hard for 2nd, with Henry getting by and grabbing the lead on lap 17. the leaders would get into lapped traffic on lap 22, but Henry appeared to have things well in hand, until losing speed coming down to take the white flag. Schlenk would get by Henry, with Henry hanging on to finish 2nd. Chinn would finish 3rd, with #51 Devin Shiels 4th and #53 Hillard Miller completing the top 5.
The Stock Car/V8 Truck A min would finish off the night, with #10S Chris Sawinski, and #1W Mark Wooten bringing the field to green. #7B Shawn Valenti would grab theh early lead over #17 Jeremy Creech on lap one, and take off from the field. Lima, Ohio’s Tony Anderson would move to 2nd on lap 9, but couldn’t close on Valenti. Caution would wave on lap 13 for #60P Dan Plath, as he would spin in turns 3 and 4. On the restart, Valenti would pull away by about a second over Anderson, and appeared to be on his way to victory, but in the last 5 laps, Anderson closed , and made a daring move splitting a lapped car on the bottom with Valenti up high, and ran off to get the win. Valenti would be 2nd, with Creech 3rd, #21d Bob Daugherty 4th, and #4s Keith Sorg completing the top 5.
