Kevin Thomas Jr. Takes “Smackdown” Night One

Kokomo,In (8-25-2016)- Kevin Thomas Jr. kicked off “Sprint Car Smackdown V” at Kokomo Speedway for the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Cars by leading all 30 laps of the feature Thursday night. Thomas started on the pole and had things well in hand throughout.

 

While Thomas dominated action, racing behind him proved to be exciting with Dave Darland taking 2nd early as Chase Stockon and Chris Windom swapped third position several times. Just before the half way mark, Windom made a pass stick for 3rd.

Now Windom was putting pressure on Darland for 2nd and on the 23rd circuit Windom moved into 2nd after some battling between Double D and Windom. As laps were winding down, Thomas had a lead that Windom was not able to overcome. At the checkers the running order was Thomas, Windom, Darland, Stockon and Justin Grant.

 

Heats for the 45 cars on hand were won by CJ Leary, Jon Stanbrough, Tyler Thomas Jr. and  Hunter Scheurenberg. C main went to Brian Karraker as the semi was won by Brady Bacon. Thomas Meseraull was fast time.
