ROSSBURG, Ohio (September 24, 2016) — Dominance might not be a strong enough word to describe how Chris Windom went about winning the USAC Silver Crown Series portion of the 4-Crown Nationals on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.
Windom drove away from the pole position and built up a 16 second lead at one point during the 50-lap event on his way to not only winning the feature, but the 2016 USAC Silver Crown championship.
“I’m at a loss for words. I knew it was going to be a big feat coming in. Its sucks to see Kody go out with hardships like that early in the race. We fought all year and we earned every bit of this championship. From Rob Hart in the start of the year and bringing Evan Avart on board, he’s been spot on for me. This car drove itself around here, it was amazing.
While Windom was leading Kody Swanson was holding down second place until tangling with a slower car. Swanson recovered to finish fifth, two spots shy of winning another USAC Silver Crown title.
Justin Grant raced up into the runner up position, but did not have anything for Windom.
“I can’t say how good he was because I never saw him,” said Grant.”
