STANBROUGH WINS SHELDON KINSER MEMORIAL AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY

Jon Stanbrough of Avon, Ind., took home a $3,000 pay check from the event that honored the late Sheldon Kinser. Kinser, of Bloomington Ind., was an accomplished short track racer who made several starts in the Indianapolis 500 with a best finish of sixth in 1981. Kinser, who won 13 times at Bloomington Speedway, lost his life to cancer in 1988.

Hall of Fame Weekend at Knoxville Next Up for Tony Stewart Racing

Any time the World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint car series competes at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway, it’s a big deal, and this weekend’s trip to central Iowa will be no different. The Outlaws, led by the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) combo of Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz, return to the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” for three nights of racing at the famed half-mile dirt oval beginning Thursday with the Mediacom Shootout, continuing Friday with the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic Presented by Mediacom, and concluding Saturday with the Mediacom Shootout finale.

NCRA Sprints Set to Roll into Thunder Hill This Saturday Night

his coming Saturday night be prepared to hear the thunder roll as the O’Reilly/NCRA sprint car series will make their first ever appearance at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas. While it may be the first ever visit to the track by these winged warriors, it won’t be the first appearance for a sprint car series sanctioned by NCRA.

IZOD INDYCAR SERIES TO RACE IN BALTIMORE IN 2011

Baltimore Racing Development (BRD) formally announced June 2 that the Baltimore Grand Prix will be part of the IZOD IndyCar Series schedule beginning in 2011. The inaugural event has been scheduled for August 5-7, and will be contested on a 2.4-mile temporary street circuit around the scenic Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore.

Previewing the Hall of Fame Classic

The World of Outlaws will help make history this week as the series takes part in the Inaugural Hall of Fame Classic Presented by Mediacom on Friday, June 4, along with the annual Mediacom Shootout on Thursday, June 3 and Saturday, June 5. Many drivers that have competed with the World of Outlaws are members of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame including 20-time series champion Steve Kinser and Jac Haudenschild who will both be racing in the event, as well as three-time series title winner Sammy Swindell.

Wednesdays with Wayne – One for Jesse!

It was just another win in another different car for Wayne Johnson, but the passing last week of friend, Jesse Hockett, made it a little more special. So when the checkers flew after Wayne had driven from 11th to the win with the Sprint Invaders at 34 Raceway near West Burlington, Iowa, he did some donuts as “The Rocket” had done on so many occasions.
