Double dip is worth the effort for Michigan teams

Friday night at Hartford Speedway at least three Michigan teams will attempt to compete in both the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions and Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP events at Hartford Speedway. As of Wednesday drivers Chase Ridenour, Dustin Daggett, and Ryan Ruhl and their race teams plan on fielding separate cars to compete in both classes.

Shane Stewart’s story a good lesson in sprint car perseverance

Early Sunday morning Shane Stewart was enjoying the spoils of winning the 32nd Annual Kings Royal, having a top flight ride with Larson/Marks racing. Stewart is having a good season with the World of Outlaws that has put him second in the point standings to Donny Schatz. While Stewart is on top right now it hasn’t always been that way.

TJ’s Prediction: Royal is Schatz’s to Lose…

Donny Schatz is having a season for the ages. Not since the days of the prime of Steve Kinser and Doug Wolfgang has a driver rolled through the sprint car world like Schatz has this season. Internationally Schatz has 26 victories this season with 20 of them coming in World of Outlaws competition. To win nearly half of the races in what is the toughest sprint car series in the World is nothing short of remarkable.

Having a strong Silver Crown division is important

Last night’s Hoosier Hundred featured a 29 car field of USAC Silver Crown cars with 27 starting the feature. Compared to just a few years ago this is a complete turnaround for a series that was on life support. Having the Silver Crown division alive and healthy is good for open wheel racing overall for a multitude of different reasons.

T.J.’s Tuesday Notebook: Great start to the season with SOD

Saturday’s Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP event at Crystal Motor Speedway went off without a hitch.
