Butler Looks to Shake Up Schedule with Bigger Programs in 2011

Open wheel fans in the Great Lakes region wishing they could see some bigger open wheel programs closer to home should be able to rejoice for 2011. Denny Donaldson is working together with Butler Motor Speedway promoter Bob Garrett to bring back some more visible programs to the speedway including the All Star Circuit of Champions and an early season midget car program.

Rumble Series rings in the New Year, Ride Changes, and More!

Over the past 12 years the Rumble Series has evolved into a mid-winter gathering of racers young and old for a change to gather with friends for some winter racing. Part of the series success has been the availability of the Fort Wayne Exposition Center on the weekend between Christmas and New Years Day. This season an interesting challenge arose with both holidays falling on Saturday.

20 Years after Bobby Allen produced one of the greatest upsets in sprint car racing history the Knoxville Nationals created another drama surprise when Tim Shaffer posted the victory in the 50th Anniversary Edition of the event. With an event that had seen a decline in attendance the 50th anniversary combined with memorable preliminary racing and a thrilling finale should bode well for the future.

Great Racing, No Crowd

August 12th, 2010 was circled on my calendar the moment the USAC Silver Crown Series schedule came out revealing a Thursday night show at nearby Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. Silver Crown dates are few and far between, and one near home has never occurred since the series broke off from the National Championship trail.
