Wet Weather Provides Tourism Boost For Qld
Qld has long been hailed as the Sunshine State, a “mecca” for sun-loving tourists, so it’s a little ironic that the wet weather that has beset the Brisbane area over the past week or so has actually allowed time for some American tourists to see the local sites and do their own bit to boost the local economy.

Johnson Mounts Speedweek Advance
The Cajun Sensation Jason Johnson claimed back-to-back East Coast Pipeline Speedweek rounds at the Borderline Speedway, Mount Gambier. The American started from pole position after claiming the Vortex Top 8 Shootout and led Robbie Farr at the start of the 35-lap, $10,000 to win A-main. Farr was desperate to stay in contention for not only Speedweek but also the overall Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship but struck trouble mid way the feature race.

1ST USAC RACE OF 2010 SET FOR TUCSON RACEWAY PARK NEW YEAR’S DAY
The first race of USAC’s 55th season of racing competition is less than a week away! Ford Focus Midgets will be competing at Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park on Thursday and Friday, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day! Qualifying is scheduled Thursday night and a 40-lap feature is on tap Friday.

Back in Victory Lane: Donny Schatz returned to action on Sunday at Parramatta City Raceway in Australia and won a duel over Garry Brazier in the annual $10,000 to-win Valvoline Sprint Car Grand Prix, which was postponed a day by rain.

Wanless Chases Races East And West
With rain playing havoc with racing schedules up and down the east coast of the country on Boxing Night and forcing the postponement of the International Sprintcar Series in Brisbane until this evening, ABC Auto Gear Racing team driver Todd Wanless packed his helmet bag and headed west to Kwinana for the Sprintcar Christmas Cup at the Perth Motorplex last night.

Shane Golobic to drive John Taylor’s championship Bullet Racing Sprint Car for 2010
Young open wheel racer Shane Golobic of Fremont, California has been named as the primary driver for the Bullet Racing Sprint Car Team for the 2010 racing season, announced team owner John Taylor last week. As Taylor announced his plans for the racing season to come, the four time championship car owner acknowledged all who supported his trek to the 2009 Placerville Speedway track championship.

The World of Outlaws have visited countless tracks over the last 32 years, though one missing from that list is Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb. That is set to change on Friday, June 25 as the series is tentatively scheduled to visit the state-of-the-art 3/8-mile in the Cornhusker State for the first time.

Johnson Jumps into Speedweek Lead
American Jason Johnson jumped into the lead of the East Coast Pipeline Speedweek when he took out Round 2 at the Murray Bridge Speedway. Johnson started on the outside of the front row and shot ahead of Vortex Top 8 Shootout winner David Murcott who literally had an up and down evening.
