A former Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super champion at Oswego Speedway, Dave Gruel will look to close out his first career Supermodified championship at the ‘Steel Palace’ this Saturday.

Oswego Speedway veterans Michael Barnes and Syrell Racing are on the doorstep of a Novelis Supermodified track championship at the ‘Steel Palace’ with only current point leader Dave Gruel standing in their way at this Saturday’s $5 admission championship finale presented by Bosco’s Food Market and U-Pull U-Save Auto Parts.

National television cameras from SPEED SPORT, MAVTV, and Thomas Video Productions will be set to roll on this Saturday’s 30th annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified main event at the ‘Steel Palace’, Oswego Speedway.

A fast paced month of July will come to a close at Oswego Speedway this Saturday, July 23 with the historic 30th running of the $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified and 25th running of the $1,500 to win Mr. Pathfinder Bank SBS.

With Oswego Speedway’s highly anticipated 60th Budweiser International Classic Weekend on the horizon highlighted by the Budweiser International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Toyota ‘Mod Classic 150’ presented by McDonald’s, Speedway management is excited to officially announce a Classic makeover in anticipation of the big weekend.

With the recent chatter of Michael Barnes and Otto Sitterly’s battle for Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodified track title, Dave Gruel managed to sneak into the party and steal the top spot heading into Saturday’s Summer Championship, presented by Crop Production Services.

Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodified Budweiser International Classic 200 purse, which annually pushes the $100,000 mark including monies and contingencies, will now guarantee a minimum of $600 to each non-qualified entry as long as that entry participates in one of two last chance semi-finals on Sunday, September 4.

Oswego Speedway’s Independence Weekend Grand Prix 75-lap special has long been a popular mid-season landing spot for out of town or first time season competitors and that looks to again be the case this Saturday as Ohio racers Tim Jedrzejek and Gene Lee Gibson as well as Idaho rookie Davey Hamilton Jr. are expected to make their first starts of 2016 in Novelis Supermodified action.
