Trey Starks may live 1,800 miles from the famed Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, but the 16-year old is well-versed in the history and aura of the legendary half-mile.

Trey Starks and his team made a last minute decision to spend one more weekend in California, before heading to the Midwest, and that decision paid off, as the 16-year old was victorious on Saturday, April 7 at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif.

After two consecutive weekend’s of having the originally scheduled Saturday night race interrupted by Mother Nature, it looked like Trey Starks would be in the same boat this past weekend

In sprint car racing, it can be quite challenging to show patience, especially for a young driver, when races can run green-to-checker in just six or seven minutes if there are no cautions, while other times it can take quite a bit longer, depending on circumstances.

When a student wants to learn from experts in a field they go to a college or university that specializes in what they are interested in. When a sprint car driver wants to learn from the best, they go and race with the World of Outlaws. Trey Starks, who recently turned 16-years old continued his sprint car education this past week, competing in a pair of events with the World of Outlaws, as the series began an eight-race West Coast swing that will cover the month of March.

To be successful in racing, it takes a fast car, a capable driver, a strong team and last but certainly not least, some good luck. Trey Starks had a pretty good car this weekend during the Copper Classic at Canyon Raceway Park in Peoria, Ariz., but didn’t have much luck on his side.
