SYRACUSE, NY – When the green flag is waving on the 28th Anniversary Tour for the Lucas Oil Empire Sprints (ESS), fans will notice a new and exciting change when a yellow is thrown during the A-Main. The very next restart will see the winged wonders coming down for the restart side by side!

Used very successfully in 2010 by the World of Outlaws, the race teams felt that it would be a good move for all ESS full point events to also utilize double-file restarts. “I am real happy that the teams wanted to do the double-file restarts and they voted it in almost unanimously.” said ESS President Chuck Miller. “We always remember that ESS is a form of entertainment and we want the fans to enjoy every ESS event that we have. Double-file restarts will add to that excitement, there’s nothing better than a pack of high horse powered winged sprint cars coming down for a start.”

The system used by the Outlaws will also be followed. If there’s a caution thrown before a lap could be completed after a double-file restart the tradition single-file, “cone on the rope” restart would then be used in effort to keep the show moving along.

Defending and now three time champion Steve Poirier was one of many who wanted to see the new procedure. “I think it will be real exciting for the fans and the racers. You’re definitely going to see more passing.” noted the Quebec star. “If you have a real bad draw having a double-file restart gives you a better chance to get to the front.”

One of ESS’ most exciting drivers known as the “Cobra” Chuck Hebing is also excited to have the new restart system. “I think it will be real good for the fans, ESS puts on some of the best shows and this will add to the event.” said the Ontario, NY chauffeur. “While the potential of and added accident could happen, these drivers here in ESS really respect each other. I don’t think you will see any troubles.”

Fairfax, Vermont’s Anthony Cain also had a bright outlook on the change. “I’m one of the lower dollar teams with ESS but having double-file restarts just makes me feel that I have a shot, I can see the leader in front of me. “ Cain continued. “When it’s a single-file restart and you’re in the back you just seem to lose all confidence as the front runners are just so far ahead of you and you have no chance in catching and passing them.”

As the winter months are passing by, the preparations for the 29th season on the successful sanctioning body which showcases the very best of “America’s Race Cars” in two countries are well underway. The scheduling process is in the works along with several new teams joining the tour for 2011. New faces such as Tyler Rand, Mark Zemcik and Matt Tanner have already indicated a strong effort for next season with more announcements to come.

The entire ESS staff would like to wish all race teams, crews and fans a very happy holiday season and for the latest up to date information on the Lucas Oil Tour please log on to www.empiresupersprints.com
