Rain Delays World of Outlaws at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway

By Kyle Luetters

HANFORD, Calif. – March 18, 2011 – World of Outlaws champion and California native Jason Meyers was in the pole position for the feature event on Friday night at Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway when rain began to fall, forcing officials to postpone the conclusion of the event.

Series and track officials will determine a makeup date for the 35-lap A-main as soon as possible as the Outlaws head to Thunderbowl Raceway in nearby Tulare, Calif., to compete Saturday night. Fans with questions can call the speedway at 559-584-7223 or continue to check back at WorldofOutlaws.com for schedule updates.

Paul McMahan set quick time during qualifying when he turned a lap around the 3/8-mile oval in 13.119 seconds at 102.904 mph and earned five points in the championship standings. It marked the third time this season McMahan was quickest in time trials. Craig Dollansky, Sammy Swindell, Jason Sides and Kerry Madsen rounded out the Top Five in the 26-car field and also earned qualifying points.

Heat race winners included Evan Suggs, Joey Saldana and Meyers, who also won the Dash. Tommy Tarlton won the B-main.

On Saturday the World of Outlaws invade 1/3-mile oval Thunderbowl Raceway, where last season Tim Kaeding broke the track record while Meyers and Saldana earned victories.
