– PARK CITY, Kan. (Oct. 3) – Danny Lasoski ended up a car length shy of the win last Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan., for the NCRA finale.
However, from where he started the night, a runner-up performance was a victory in a certain sense as he piloted a car for Mark Burch Motorsports.
On a wet, narrow track, Lasoski dropped from third to fifth place in his heat race. It relegated him to the B Main, which he said was a blessing in disguise.
“I’m glad we ran the B Main because we got the car better,” he said.
The Dover, Mo., native started second and led all 12 laps in the B Main to earn a transfer to the feature. He continued to move forward after starting 13th in the main event.
“I think we had one caution really early,” he said. “We just worked our way up through there. With about three laps to go I caught Jeremy Campbell and Jason Martin, but I jumped the cushion in turn three. I lost a lot of ground there.
“Coming to the white flag I passed Campbell and was on the bumper of Martin at the finish.”
It was Lasoski’s 32nd top-five finish in 48 features this season. It was also his third consecutive result in the top four while driving for Mark Burch Motorsports.
“Mark and the team gave me another great car and we’ve been so close to winning with them in every race we’ve been together,” Lasoski said.
