Lone Star Region fires off this Saturday

Tulsa, OK — (March 11, 2013) — The Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Lone Star Region begins the 2013 season this Saturday, Mar. 16 at the Kennedale Speedway Park.

The quarter-mile clay oval has undergone several changes over the off-season as 2009 Smiley’s Racing Products Lone Star Region champion Kevin Ramey has assumed the role of promoter for the Kennedale facility.

The opening event rings in the fifth year of competition for the Lone Star Region which has been dominated over the past two years by Glenpool, Okla. driver Matt Covington who, in 2012, was the first person to sweep both the Lone Star and Sooner Region titles in the same year.

Events at the Kennedale Speedway Park are slated to begin at 6 p.m. (CDT) with gates opening at 3 p.m. with the Lone Star Region joined by the IMCA Modifieds.

The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
