Beaver Dam, WI – (April 23, 2013) – Mother Nature has loosened her grip on warm spring air and that air will soon be filled with the sound of 410 cubic inch alcohol burning engines.  The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will get their 2013 racing season underway as they present the Jim Wipperfurth Memorial race at Beaver Dam Raceway this Saturday Night, April 27th.

With last weeks postponement of the Spring Thaw at Oshkosh Speedzone, the Wipperfurth Memorial is now the opening event and a very entertaining schedule for the popular sprint car series.

The show will feature an all open-wheeled program as the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be joined by the MSA 360 Sprints and the Wisconsin-Illinois (WIMS) Mini-Sprints.

A field of nearly 30 IRA Sprints are expected to be on hand for the show.  Last year’s Wipperfurth Memorial event was held in September after being rain delayed from it’s spring date.  2013 champion Bill Balog would capture the event after being chased to the checkered flag by Mike Reinke and Tommy Sexton.  Look for another hotly contested event on the fast high-banked third-mile clay oval.  The race will also mark a highly anticipated rookie battle as Lance Fassbender, Jeremy Schultz and Bryon Walters are all expected to vie for that honor.  Fassbender and Schultz are graduates of the 360 Sprints while Walters comes from the midget ranks.

The MSA 360 group will be on hand representing the best weekly 360 sprint racers in the area and it is expected that several drivers will pull double duty racing in both the 410 and 360 Sprint portions of the program.  For the WIMS Mini-Sprints a large turnout should be on hand as the show is the opener for their point season.

Pit gates will open at 2:30pm with the main gates opening at 4:30pm. Racing is set to get underway at 6:30 pm.  The IRA Sprints will qualify with heats and main events to follow for all classes.

General admission is $20 for adults, with a youth ticket being sold for $10 to fans ages 6 though 11.   Children ages 5 and under are admitted FREE with a paid adult.

Event information can be found on the Beaver Dam Raceway website at www.wismotorsports.net or by calling the track at (920) 887-1600.  Beaver Dam Raceway is located on Racetrack Road just east of the intersection of Hwy 151 and 33 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
