Knoxville, IA — (August 30, 2015) — Justin Henderson put on the show Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway on Wal-Mart Season Championship Night, but there were plenty of drivers celebrating at night’s end. The Sioux Falls, South Dakota driver swept both the FVP National Sprint League 410 feature and the 360 main event in impressive fashion. Devin Kline won the 305 feature. Danny Lasoski (410), Clint Garner (360), Stacey Alexander (305) and BDS Motorsports (360 owner) were the big winners, taking home Knoxville Championship Cup Series titles for 2015!

Henderson shot out from the pole in the 25-lap NSL main event ahead of Mark Dobmeier and Brian Brown. Danny Lasoski was fourth, and challenged Brown for several laps before a lap eight caution saw Tasker Phillips spin after contact with another car with eight laps in the books.

Henderson led Dobmeier, Brown, Lasoski and Austin McCarl back to green flag racing. Dobmeier briefly challenged the leader using the high side, but Henderson pulled away in the low groove and then went to work in lapped traffic. The battles got entertaining back in the pack, as Bryan Clauson duked it out with Ian Madsen and Austin McCarl.

Dusty Zomer moved into the top five in the late going, while up front, Brown shot by Dobmeier in heavy lapped traffic in the late going for second. Henderson’s win was his fourth 410 victory of the season here, and was worth $5,000. Brown closed late, but checkered second, ahead of Dobmeier, Lasoski and Zomer. Ian Madsen, Clauson, Austin McCarl, Lynton Jeffrey and Bronson Maeschen rounded out the top ten.

Henderson also set quick time over the field, while Ryan Bunton, Jeffrey and Lasoski won heats. Madsen took the B main.

“I just want to talk about Knoxville Raceway and my race team,” said Henderson in Victory Lane. “It’s like a dream come true coming here every Saturday. I know everyone hears that from the drivers, but it’s true. It’s the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World’ for a reason. BDS Motorsports is proud to race here every week, and I appreciate everything they do.”

The 410 track championship was Lasoski’s tenth, an all-time record.

Henderson also started the 360 20-lap feature on the pole. He led at the outset, but was hounded early by Dusty Zomer. Jamie Zaputil came to a stop in turn two with a lap in the books, bringing the caution flag. Henderson shot back to green, ahead of Zomer, Sawyer Phillips, Jamie Ball and Clint Garner.

Jon Agan spun while running eighth and Keoni Texeira retired shorlty after the restart. Only two more laps were run before a caution for debris slowed things again. Once green again, Dobmeier set sail. Zomer was never out of it, however, but the leader shot through lappers with relative ease. On lap 16 and 17, the second and third place cars of Zomer and Ball retired, with the latter bringing out the yellow, stopping in turn four.

With just three laps remaining, Henderson shot away from Matt Moro, Clint Garner, Ryan Giles and Phillips. Giles would pass Garner for third with two to go, trailing Henderson and Moro, who had been smoking the last half of the race. Garner was fourth, and Phillips, hard-charger Nate Van Haaften, Agan, Tony Shilling, Randy Martin and Bill Balog rounded out the top ten.

Henderson also set quick time in the 360’s, while Agan, Zomer and Joe Beaver won heat races.

“Starting position had a lot to do with it tonight,” said Henderson in Victory Lane. “The track is really fast. It’s still fun. It’s really tricky when you get to lapped traffic, because the track is fast. It’s something I have to watch for and mind. I’m just proud of this team. I’m really happy for the owners of BDS Motorsports, Bryan and Dave (Sunby) and Zeus (for winning the owner’s championship). They not only own this team, but manage this team and everything that goes along with it from the motors to the cars to the day to day activity.”

Clint Garner, like Lasoski, set a record with his sixth 360 track championship.

The 305 main event was a race of attrition and hard crashes. Don Dawson III was the first to tumble before a lap could be completed. On the next try at green, Joe Simbro destroyed his machine between turns one and two. Both were uninjured.

McKenna Haase used the high side to cruise by Christian Bowman and Devin Kline to lead early. Stacey Alexander, who came into the feature needing a top ten finish to with the 305 track championship, got sideways while running sixth, but managed to save it. Three cars were not so lucky on lap four. Mike Johnston, Shawn Deman and Kevin Hiemstra were involved in a turn four tangle.

Haase led Kline, Bowman, Trevor Smith and Jeff Wilke back to green flag racing. Smith shot into third before Cody Ambers came to a stop with seven laps in the books. The race went green for six laps when Kline caught Haase in traffic. When the leader went high in three and four, Kline shot under her low to take the point on lap 13. On the next go-around, Haase was working on the high side around lapped traffic, when she too got into the wall, and flipped violently. Though she was communicating with the safety team, she was taken in for observation.

Kline held on to win ahead of Smith, who took second on the white flag lap. Bowman, Alexander and Chris Walraven finished the top five. Wilke, Matthew Stelzer, Brad Comegys, Mitchell Alexander and Chase Wanner completed the top ten. Stacey Alexander’s fourth place finish secured his first ever track championship. Walraven set quick time and won the B main, while Wanner, Comegys and Simbro won the heat races.

“I hope that was as fun for the fans as it was me,” said Kline. “It was an absolute blast. The track came in as we got into the race, and my car got better. On the restarts, the car takes off like a bullet.”
