Sedalia, MO — (April 17, 2016) — The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps kicked off the 2016 season at the Missouri State Fair Speedway and the Peak Sport and Spine Spring Fling at the Historic Half-Mile with Tennessee’s Brandon Hanks pocketing the night’s $5,000 winner’s check.

The win is Hanks’ second career ASCS victory, and first with the ASCS Warrior Region.

Gridding the field fifth, the race began with Cody Baker taking off with the lead. Surviving early reds and cautions, Baker relinquished the top spot to Jonathan Cornell as the race worked past the third round.

Working lap nine with a comfortable advantage, slower traffic came into play and served a game over flip to Cornell down the back straight with Baker also having issues while running second. Both drivers were okay. Handing the lead to Brandon Hanks, the driver of the Hanks Motorsports No. 84 played it cool with his tires, pulling away to over a straightaway at the checkered flag.

Seth Bergman came from seventh to second with Brian Brown from ninth to complete the afternoon’s podium. Kyle Bellm crossed fourth with Brian Clauson fifth.

Blake Hahn was sixth with Wayne Johnson taking the afternoon’s Hard Charger honors with a 20th to seventh place run. Tyler Thomas from 13th was eighth with Josh Baughman rebounding from a spin at the start to finish ninth. Even Martin completed the top-ten.

Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps will see action again on Saturday, April 23 at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Mo. The night is co-sanctioned with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, which will be at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan. the night before.
