Kyle Cummins Pulls Out “Sprint Week” Night Two Win at Kokomo

Gas City,Indiana (July 9th,2016)- Kyle Cummins became the 2nd first time USAC winner in as many nights as he won the “Indiana Sprint Week” – “Tony Elliott Classic” at Kokomo Speedway Saturday night.
Kevin Thomas Jr. and Chris Windom paced the field as the green flew for the 30 lap feature with Windom jumping out front. Several cautions slowed action with Windom still leading with racing for 2nd through 6th intense between Thomas, Chad Boespflug, Chase Stockon, Cummins and Brady Bacon.

The red appeared on the 14th circuit for Hunter Schuerenberg as he tipped over with two other cars spinning in turn three. At this point, Cummins was making his move forward and drove into 3rd on lap 18. Cummins was soon in 2nd and passed Windom for the lead on lap 22 but on the following lap Cummins got sideways

in turn four and collected 2nd, 3rd and 5th place Windom, Stockon and Clauson but Cummins was able to keep going.

At 25 laps, Cummins was being pressured by Kevin Thomas and Robert Ballou as the top three could be covered by a blanket. Ballou made the pass into 2nd and was diving low trying to get around Cummins and almost made it stick but a yellow with two to go set up a wild finish as Ballou and Cummins were battling and at the checkers Cummins was able to pull out the victory by a nose over Ballou, Thomas, Jerry Coons Jr. and Brady Bacon.
Another fine field of 47 cars were on had in front of a packed house at Kokomo.
