One of the biggest weekends of racing in Michigan for local pavement and dirt sprint car teams take place this weekend with the 500 Sprint Car Tour, Great Lakes Traditional Sprints, Must See Racing Sprint Car Series, and one of the biggest special events of Butler Motor Speedway.

The Great Lakes Super Sprints will kick off sprint car racing in the Great Lakes State for the 2023 with a two night stand at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan and Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal, Michigan. Here are five storylines to follow leading into the season opening weekend.

The Great Lakes Super Sprints get next weekend off after two successful nights of racing Friday at I-96 Speedway and Saturday at Butler Motor Speedway. Exiting the weekend, it appears we are down to a three-horse race for the 2022 GLSS championship.

Tim Wilbur’s Christmas surprise was revealed officially to the racing world that his family had purchased the 3/8-mile oval in Coldwater, Michigan. Since that day there seems to be a level of positive energy building up to opening night I have not seen since Denny Donaldson took over the facility back in the early 90’s.
