Swindell Wins Duel with Heskin To Claim Night #1 of the Knoxville Nationals!

The “Experienced Veteran” vs. the “Young Gun” was on display on the opening night of the 51st Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals Wednesday. Sammy Swindell was running the Nationals before Davey Heskin was born, but the two put on a show that fans will remember for some time. In the end, it was Swindell in Victory Lane, grabbing win #47 at the famous half-mile. Swindell also emerged as the high-point getter with 490 points, and assured the Germantown, Tennessee driver of a starting spot close to the front for Saturday night’s championship event.

Wednesdays with Wayne – Eighth at the 360 Nationals!

For most drivers, an eighth place finish in the 360 Nationals would be more than satisfying, but with the roll Wayne Johnson and the BDS Motorsports #38 team came in with, it was a disappointment. Still, the Knoxville, Iowa driver scored his seventh top ten finish in the race, equaled only by three other drivers. This week, his focus turns to getting the Cooper #01 ready for the 410 Nationals.

Chad Humston – Wheelie Champ!

Chad Humston and the Mark Burch Motorsports #1m were hoping for a 360 Nationals champ, not the “Wheelie Award” for the weekend. Instead, that’s what they got when a ragged feature start in their prelim saw cars stacked up and their machine getting the worst end of the deal. Still, they qualified for their second straight 360 Nationals finale, and improved over last season in the fact that they finished the race (16th). They will take a well-deserved week off before returning to action.

Tornado Alley – Strong Showing Nets 4th at 360 Nationals!

Billy Alley was confident heading into the 360 Nationals and it showed, with a strong fourth place finish in the biggest event in 360-sprint car racing. The Lincoln, Nebraska driver parlayed a “show stopping” performance in the Friday night prelim event where he drove from 23rd to 5th into Saturday night’s championship event. His focus turns to the 410 Nationals now as he teams up with the Alan Barton Motorsports #7AB team.
