Gas City, IN — (April 27, 2012) — Hunter Schuerenberg of Sikeston, Missouri picked up his first AMSOIL National Sprint Car win of the year after leading every official circuit in Friday’s 30-lap Main Event at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway. Schuerenberg led the opening lap from the pole before falling to third at the completion of lap two, but a caution behind him gave Schuerenberg another chance at the front of the field, and he took advantage in his Rock Steady Racing – Fatheadz Eyewear – R&B Trucker’s Spike/Rider #35.

“I got another shot at the lead after that caution. Luckily, that was the break we needed. This is a big win for us. We got a terrible start to the year, so a win just gets us going back in the right direction,” Schuerenberg said after some celebratory donuts.

Jon Stanbrough closed on the leader late in the race as traffic bottled up the top-three. With Stanbrough looking for an option to get by Schuerenberg on the final lap, Shane Cottle slipped underneath in his Epperson Painting DRC/Claxton #2 to take the runner-up spot. Stanbrough filled the podium in the Roberts/Tate Racing – Leer Racing DRC/Speedway #21x. Filling out the top-five were Billy Puterbaugh, Jr. in the Puterbaugh Racing – Lucas Oil DRC/Foxco #16 and Bryan Clauson in the CTR/BCI/Curb-Agajanian R&B Trucker’s Maxim/Fisher #7.
