Westminter, Maryland’s Steve Owings used a lapped car to his advantage to drive under polesitter and race-long leader Trevor Little and take the race lead entering turn one, and drove away to his third win of the year in the 25-lap “358” sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway Friday night.

Hood Wins Feature at Southern New Mexico Speedway
Veteran sprint car driver Rickey Hood won the Renegade 305 sprint car feature Saturday night at Southern New Mexico Speedway. Kyle Sager, Anton Salopek, Brandon Schure, and Robert Herrera rounded out the top five.

NAPA SPEEDWAY hosted 18 NMMRA Sprinters Sat. evening. After a couple of hairy Starts, the 25 Lap Feature had # 16 Tom “T” Ball in his NAPA/LEONARD TIRE Special in the lead as the 2002 & 2006 NMMRA Champion held off 2009 Champion #19 Ronnie Smith.

A.G. Rains won the sprint car feature Saturday night at Riverside International Speedway. Wade Oliver, Zach Pringle, Casey Rowland, and Dale Howard rounded out the top five. Howard won the 305 sprint car feature.

Randy Sippel, won the MSA Sprint Car feature Saturday at Plymouth Speedway. Ken Jay Fiedler, Jeremy Schultz, Scotty Thiel, and Ben Schmidt rounded out the top five.

As with many things in life, experience plays a key role in success in auto racing. Although Grafton, West Virginia’s Andre Layfield lacked much experience in traditional wingless sprint cars, he did have many laps and some prior victories on the monster 1/2 mile of Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.

Williams Scores Mid-Season Championship Feature at Mercer
It was Mid-season Championship Night at Mercer Raceway Park. Eric Williams surprised everybody by scoring his career first win in the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, while Rob Curtis stretched his points lead with the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modified division.
