“It was the 13 in 2013,” he joked. “It wasn’t my best season. If we were running good we had parts failures.
Marks, who recently kicked off his offseason by getting married, is coming off his best career season with five feature victories, 22 top fives and 57 top-10 finishes.
“First off, I want to say it was a blast,” he said. “It was a big, big learning experience. I went to so many different race tracks and raced with so many guys. By doing that you are bound to get better and I think we got better. If I could sum up my season in two words I would say learning struggle. It wasn’t easy by any means. I was trying to learn every race.”
“I’d have to say winning my first 410ci race,” he said. “That really meant a lot to me. That’s something that I’ll have and be able to remember the rest of my life. I’ll never forget that and all the hard work that went into getting that win and how difficult it was to win that race. I feel that was the highest moment of the season.”
Thomas will make his debut at the 73rd annual Turkey Night Grand Prix with the Honda USAC National Dirt Midget Series on Thanksgiving night at Perris Auto Speedway.
Thomas scored a seventh-place result during Saturday’s finale at the 46th edition of the premier Honda USAC National Dirt Midget Series event at Canyon Speedway Park.
“I would have given ourselves a B minus,” he said. “During Pennsylvania Speedweek we ran real good and were consistent every night. Other than that we had a lot of ups and downs.
Forler will wrap up his season on Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., where he is undefeated in a pair of ASCS Southwest Region races this season.
