Thorson wins USAC Midget feature at Riverside

On a hot muggy night in West Memphis, Tanner Thorson became the first repeat winner of the 2016 USAC Midget National Championship season, using a sensational turn three slide job on lap 11 to scoot past Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports teammate Carson Macedo, which proved to be the winning move, taking the win in the series’ first ever visit to the state of Arkansas Friday night at Riverside International Speedway.

USAC, POWRi, ARDC announce joint RPM limits

Officials of the United States Auto Club (USAC), POWRi and ARDC Midget Series today jointly announced a rule which will unify engine platform-specific RPM limits in all sanctioned races, effective May 29, 2016. This commitment to RPM limits constitutes a three-year commitment and any uniform limit modifications will be determined through on-going data analysis obtained through actual on-track racing.

Six weeks until Byrd’s Challenge debut

Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway will open the unique Jonathan Byrd’s “Indy Challenge” June 4 as part of the 2016 “Indiana Midget Week.” It’s the first of seven USAC National and Western Midget races to determine if anybody can earn one of the incentives posted, including a chance to compete in the 2018 Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Weather claims Kokomo Grand Prix

Wet grounds and a frigid weekend weather forecast has forced the Kokomo Speedway and the United States Auto Club to cancel this weekend’s Kokomo Grand Prix. The event will not be rescheduled for this season. The Kokomo Speedway season opener will now switch to Sunday May 1st.
