Rico Abreu continued his strong run in a dirt midget over the weekend, as a third place finish in Lincoln, IL highlighted the youngsters three race weekend.

After spending a week helping out on his family car as his good friend, Kyle Larson, competed in the Knoxville Nationals, Rico Abreu piloted his Keith Kunz Racing midget to his sixth win overall, third in a midget, of 2012 at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL following a very wild feature event.

It was only a matter of time until Rico Abreu would breakthrough and pick up a midget win in 2012 as he had picked up 360 and 410 winged sprint car wins earlier in the season, and the youngster finally cashed in Sunday night at the Angell Park Speedway

Rico Abreu, was in action over the past weekend with the USAC National Midget Tour for a pavement/dirt double header, and while his pavement woes continued, he had a strong run on dirt going until a broken wheel ended his night.

Continuing his very busy month of June piloting his Keith Kunz Midget, Rico Abreu scored a 12th place finish on pavement at the Iowa Speedway before charging his way to a second place finish Saturday night in Illinois with the POWRi.

One year ago to the day, Rico Abreu made his debut in a 410 winged sprint car at his home track, the Calistoga Speedway, and last night the local product returned to the vaunted ½ mile speedway and showcased the skill set he has acquired in 365 days as he simply dominated the 25-lap feature event to score his third career sprint car win.

Rico Abreu would simply like to forget the weekend he just had, as the youngster was in action in a pair of events and saw a strong run Friday get cut short in lapped traffic, and mechanical gremlins ended his night Saturday.

Just two weeks ago Rico Abreu was celebrating his first career sprint car win, and it was in a 360, and Saturday night the second year driver picked up his first 410 win and King of the West win as he scored the popular win in front of a very jubilant crowd.
