Mother Nature may have delayed Sunday’s USAC Silver Crown race at Toledo Speedway by one day, but it still couldn’t keep Kody Swanson out of victory lane as he wired all 100 laps to score his fourth career Hemelgarn Racing/Super Fitness “Rollie Beale Classic” victory, his record-extending 26th overall Silver Crown victory and second-straight in the series to begin the 2019 season.
After winning the companion USAC Western States Midget feature at Santa Maria, Austin Liggett (Tracy, CA) scored his first USAC West Coast Sprint Car victory of 2019. Driving the family owned #83 Excel Environmental Services / Liggett Trucking Maxim, Liggett claimed his eighth career win over fast qualifier Michael Faccinto, Tristan Guardino, Kaleb Montgomery, and J.J. Ringo.
Racing past Cory Elliott on lap 26, Austin Liggett (Tracy, CA) sailed to his second straight USAC Western States Midget triumph. Piloting the family owned #83 Excel Environmental Services / Liggett Trucking Spike, Liggett topped the 30-lap Santa Maria feature over fast qualifier Robert Dalby, Chase Stockon, Elliott, and Shannon McQueen.
Starting seventh, Brody Roa (Garden Grove, CA) took the lead from Stevie Sussex on lap 7 and held off all challengers to win the “State 48 Classic” at Canyon Speedway Park.
Racing past Maria Cofer on the 23rd circuit, Austin Liggett (Tracy, CA) powered to the first USAC Western States Midget win of his career at Merced Speedway.
The program scheduled for Saturday April 20th featuring midget cars combined with the USAC Speed2 Midwest Thunder Midget Series was rained out. Montpelier features the Buckeye Outlaw Super Sprints next Saturday night.
After trading the lead with Jake Swanson, Tristan Guardino (Fremont, CA) sailed to his first USAC West Coast Sprint Car victory of the year at Ventura Raceway. Racing the family owned #15T Dorso’s Automotive / Allied Auto Stores Maxim, Tristan’s earned $1,500 for his efforts.
Kody Swanson used Friday’s practice session at Memphis International Raceway to get acquainted with his new ride in the Nolen Racing No. 20 for the 2019 season.
Chris Dyson’s road to becoming a regular on the USAC Silver Crown circuit is quite unique. Born into road racing heritage as the son of Sports Car racer and owner Rob Dyson, Chris eventually found his way to the top, capturing a pair of American Le Mans Series titles – the LMP675 driver’s title in 2003 and the LMP1 championship in 2011.
