Drama, thrilling features at MRP

It was a night that the hardy fans at MRP will not soon forget. There was some outrageously great auto racing presented once again at Paul and Kathy Hawes’ Marysville Raceway Park. Mix in some adrenaline rushed controversy, some spectacular individual performances, a bent wing and a first time winner in the MRP Winged Sprint Car division and you have a night to remember. The track was hooked up and smokin’ all night.

TREVOR LEWIS THRILLS BIG BRIDGEPORT CROWD AT 2010 URC OPENER

A big crowd turned out for URC’s 63rd season opener on Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway and at the end of the night, Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA was in victory lane. For Lewis, it was his first win of the season and his seventeenth career win under the URC banner. A field of thirty URC sprint cars turned out for the season opener with heat race victories going to Davey Sammons, Chris Coyle and Trevor Lewis as Nick Schlauch won the “B” Main.

While finishing second in the points at two Northwest Ohio tracks in 2009 might be a career for some 410 sprint drivers, for Monclova, Ohio’s Byron Reed, it was a disappointing season that saw him find victory lane only once. Reed rededicated himself in the off-season, and has stormed out of the gates to start 2010, claiming his 8th career win with the O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champion on HD Supply Spring Nationals Night at Attica Raceway Park Saturday. That comes on the heals of a second place run last week to open Attica’s season.
