Against All Odds – Bruce Goes Back-to-Back in Short Track Nationals!
Tony Bruce, Jr., of Liberal, KS, overcame all variety of odds to pocket the hefty $15,000 winner’s share in Saturday night’s 22nd Annual O’Reilly Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires 40-lap championship finale atop I-30 Speedway’s high-banked, ¼-mile clay oval.

Herr and Perigo Claim Williams Grove Speedway Super Sportsman Features
Frankie Herr and Carmen Perigo Jr. had mirror-image seasons. The duo were in the battle for the Williams Grove Speedway Tool Shed of America Super Sportsman point title. Both drivers were lacking one item in their 2009 racing portfolio – neither driver had secured a 2009 Super Sportsman victory at Williams Grove. Friday night, the final evening of racing for 2009, both drivers claimed a win in the twin 20-lap Super Sportsman features.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. Thrills Local Crowd with 2nd Place Finish at Home Track
It wasn’t quite the storybook ending Sam Hafertepe Jr had been looking for but a 2nd place finish with the World of Outlaws (WoO) this past Saturday night at his family’s Lone Star Speedway had the Sunnyvale, Texas native smiling from ear to ear. Hafertepe chased Joey Saldana all feature long but had to settle for 2nd in front of the local crowd.
