USAC National Midget Championship
USAC National Midget Championship
Seventeen drivers came into Sunday night’s 2025 USAC Indiana Midget Week finale at Kokomo Speedway mathematically in contention for the miniseries championship.
Somewhat fittingly, the final event of the truncated and abbreviated three-race series came down to the two drivers who captured victories in the first two rounds of the series – teammates Jacob Denney and Kale Drake.
All year long, Kale Drake has displayed an astounding passing prowess that has put him atop USAC’s passing master standings.
During Tuesday night’s 21st annual USAC Indiana Midget Week opener at Circle City Raceway’s, that very same passing prowess took the ninth place starting Drake to victory lane.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, it’s not Christmastime. But for any racing junkie, this might as well be Christmas in June as six nights at six different racetracks await the USAC Midget National Championship for the 21st annual edition of USAC Indiana Midget Week on June 3-8.
Kale Drake may not be overly superstitious, but at the least, he is certainly a little bit stitious. Prior to Sunday night’s USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship event at Missouri’s Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex, the Collinsville, Oklahoma native was involved in a series of fortunate events with the number two featuring prominently everywhere he turned.
On Friday night, the Ione, California native embiggened his role at the forefront of the field by capturing his first career victory at the Belleville, Kansas 1/4-mile dirt oval for what was his second consecutive victory on the 2025 USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship season.
Three nights of bullring racing are up next for the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship in Kansas and Missouri this weekend. The 1/4-mile Belleville Short Track in Kansas will serve as host for back-to-back nights at the Huncovsky Classic with two complete racing programs on Friday-Saturday night, May 16-17.
