Chase Johnson Gets First USAC Midget Win at Ventura

Taking advantage of slower traffic, Chase Johnson (Penngrove, CA) earned his first USAC Western States Midget win at Ventura Raceway. Racing Tom Malloy’s #25 Trench Shoring / Ed Pink Racing Engines King, Johnson slipped by Ben Worth on lap 13 and led the rest of the way to become the fifth first time winner in nine races. Taking the lead on the twelfth lap, Kaleb Montgomery (Templeton, CA) fought off point leader Tristan Guardino, Ryan Timmons, Brody Roa, and T.J. Smith to score his first career victory at Santa Maria Raceway. Rutherford Wins USAC West Coast Sprint Car Feature at Ventura

After mechanical issues sidelined Ricky Lewis, Troy Rutherford (Ojai, CA) led the last four laps to win the “ARP Battle of the Beach Race #2” at Ventura Raceway. Racing his #11 Trench Shoring / Grimes Rock Maxim, Rutherford became the sixth different driver to win a USAC West Coast Sprint Car feature in 2019.
