Late-race drama struck again at Fulton with three laps remaining. Just like last year, when Zach Sobotka stole victory Bobby Parrow in a dramatic late-race pass, this time it was Spencer Burley who passed Dalton Herrick around the outside in breathtaking fashion.
For decades, the Burleys have been synonymous with victory at Ransomville Speedway thanks to Todd Burley’s four 358 Modified track championships in the 2000s. Friday night, it was Todd’s son Spencer Burley’s turn to carry on the legacy, this time in sprint car racing
At “The Track of Champions,” Jeff Trombley looked the part Saturday night. The two-time track champion in a Big Block Modified and four-time CRSA champion went from ninth to first in eleven laps to win the I-90 Pit Stop Challenge opener by over five seconds over Dalton Herrick and Tomy Moreau.
At the season opener for the A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints, it was the man they call DJ Steeze when on the turntables taking his second career win. Starting second, Mikey Smith passed Nick Webb on lap one, led all 25 laps and won the Dandy Miniseries event at Outlaw Speedway.
The season opener for the A-Verdi Storage Containers CRSA Sprints will have to wait two more weeks. CRSA officials, along with Thunder Mountain Speedway track officials, have postponed tomorrow’s event due to rain.
