The paparazzi leaped from their beds this morning and scrambled for their cameras and notebooks when they heard royal trumpets sounding over the grounds of Eldora Speedway. Sir Smoke had summoned them and the royal crier, who announced to the kingdom and the world beyond that Jac Haudenschild, one of the most popular drivers in sprint car history, has been chosen as the Royal Sovereign for the 39th running of the Kings Royal this Saturday, July 16.

The MSS/ISMA/Oswego Winged Challenge #2 saw another exciting battle to the finish with second generation driver Mike Ordway Jr. working his way up from a fifth starting spot to challenge Trent Stephens, winner of Winged Challenge #1 on June 4 at the Oswego Speedway. Chad Ruhlman claims RUSH victory at Sharon

Chad Ruhlman found the high side to his liking in the RUSH Sprint Cars. After dropping to fourth early on, Ruhlman went to the top, banged the boards and passed fellow veteran Andy Priest on lap six for the winning move in the 20-lap Terry Bowser Excavating feature. It was Ruhlman’s second win of the season at Sharon, worth $600.
