For the third consecutive race to open the 2026 Novelis Supermodified season, Sitterly charged from deep in the field to JP Jewelers Victory Lane Saturday night, slicing his way from the 12th starting position to score his third straight victory aboard the John Nicotra Racing No. 7 in the Burke’s Do It Best Home Centers of Oswego & Fulton Independence Day Spectacular.

10-time Oswego Speedway track champion and defending Novelis Supermodified titleholder Otto Sitterly will return to chase a third Oswego Super Challenge championship in 2026, with the Canajoharie veteran set to campaign top wing competition aboard the same Hawk Jr. Chassis that carried him to his unprecedented 10th Speedway championship last season.

After the longest offseason in recent memory, Oswego Speedway officially kicked off its 74th season Saturday night with the running of the Jim Shampine Memorial 60-lapper for the Novelis Supermodifieds – a $5,022-to-win ‘Battle for Bruce’ in honor of driver Mike Bruce.

Otto Sitterly earned the pole position for the 68th Budweiser International Classic at Oswego Speedway. Sitterly, from Canajoharie, New York, went out 23rd for qualifying and turned lap of 16.076 seconds for the fastest time of the session.

In what turned out to be the fourth closest finish in speedway history, current Novelis Supermodified point leader Otto Sitterly edged returning hall of fame driver Doug Didero by a margin of just 0.010 seconds for his third victory of the 2018 season
